Goran Babušku is a seasoned technology professional with deep expertise across Urban Technologies, Smart Cities, IoT, IT infrastructure, telecommunications, and customer engagement. With over a decade of experience in the public sector, he combines hands-on technical delivery with a strategic mindset focused on building smarter, more resilient communities.
Goran established the Smart City Foundations at Stonnington City Council in Australia where he currently works as a Smart City Lead.
In this role, he has implemented a robust IoT function and a strategic framework, guiding his organization through capability building, roadmap development, and cross-functional collaboration. His ability to engage both internal teams and external stakeholders has made him a key driver of smart city digital transformation in one of Melbourne’s most dynamic councils, with aims to broaden collaboration, contribute to regional dialogue, and continue learning from fellow professionals who share a vision for data-driven, people-powered urban transformation.
By working with industry leaders, Academia and other levels of government he leverages the emerging technologies, innovative solutions and partnerships to create more efficient workplaces, sustainable environments and liveable communities.
As an Electronics and Telecommunications engineer, Goran collaborates with energy distribution companies and other LGAs on strategic planning of Smart Lighting rollout, and with water authorities on the rollout of intelligent metering.
He is a member of the board of the Australian Smart Communities Association and a professional member of Smart Cities Council where he participates in the Smart Built Environment task force. Locally, Goran led the setup of Smart Facilities Framework, an essential guide for project managers and principal contractors to futureproof all Council facilities and Open Spaces in Stonnington municipality.
In his previous roles over couple decades, he worked in an IT Infrastructure and Service delivery management capacity.
