Roland is from origin a cityplanner, but has always had a fascination for digital and data. The last 15 years his role transformed more and more in this direction.

From 2018 he has been the manager for the programs Digital City and Rotterdam Citiverse, and since October last year he has become the first Chief Citiverse Officer in the world.

Next to this Roland is quite active in several national and international networks, projects and activities like the UN Global Initiative on Virtual Worlds and AI – Discovering the Citiverse, OASC, EDIC LDT towards Citiverse and Lighthouse Association.
