Jan Kottmann is Global Lead for Strategic Programs for the Knowledge & Information Products’ Government Affairs and Public Policy Team at Google. In this role he focuses to enhance strategic goals for key products such as Search, Maps, Ads, News, Assistant, Commerce, leading long-term proactive policy and public affairs campaigns. He joined Google in 2010, holding several leadership roles, among others as the Europe Team Lead for Core Product Government Affairs, representing the political and business interests for a portfolio of 200 products.
Before joining Google, Jan worked as Vice President Public & Government Affairs for the German Startup Social Network studiVZ Ltd. and ran his own Law firm, advising media companies and Public Broadcasters on media law and policy. He started his career in 2002, working for the German Broadcasting Group Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland as Deputy Head for Media Policy and Head of Media Law.
Jan is a trained lawyer, holding a Master of Laws with Distinction from Edinburgh University, School of Law, and a First & Second State Examination from Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University, Bonn and Trier University.
